Award winning Songwriter and Producer, Mickel London has been writing lyrics for over 4 decades and has mastered the art of taking profound lyrics and putting them into a simple “I get it” form. His songs touch the hearts and lives of music lovers of all ages and backgrounds. Considered one of the best at writing lyrics, Mickel understands the power of words and the impact that words can have on a person. He has made a personal commitment to write positive, uplifting, inspiring and empowering songs that help heal and mend hearts and people.
In 2020 his hit Song “Live My Life” performed by Niecey LivingSingle was awarded Song of The Year in the Las Vegas BBW Music Awards, and in the same year won the BMA Awards for Song of The Year. Also, in 2020 Mickel was featured in The Hub Magazine’s Summer addition of Black Men in Leadership for his songwriting and community contributions. His song “Faith In Love” (performed by LaToya London) won Best R&B single, and Song of The Year at the first Atlas Elite Music Awards 2018. Also a 2018 BMA (Black Music Awards) Recipient for Best R&B song “Broken Pieces” produced by Mickel London and Juan Blair, and performed by Niecey LivingSingle. In 2017 Mickel was the recipient of 2 BMA awards, the AIM Award (Achievements in Music) and the Image Award for his community work and Annual Music Medicine Benefit Concert for Children’s Hospital.
In 2005 Mickel teamed with Juan Blair, one of the industry’s most versatile music producers and began a song writing journey that would lead them to Taiwan. In 2006 their song “Daddy’s Suffering” was performed by American Idol finalist LaToya London In the Musical “The Life and Times on Old Navy Road”, starring LaToya London and Mickel London. In 2007 their song “Because of You” by Zorina London was nominated for Taiwan’s Prestigious Music Awards THE GOLDEN AWARDS for Best Song. The London & Blair team also had 3 other songs on that Album titled “Because of You”. They also contributed their song “Dare to Dream” to Taiwan’s O.R.T.V.’s Christian Group, The Sunshine Singers first project “Life is a Gift” in 2007. In 2009 Mickel co-founded and Hosted the Bay Area hit show & “IN THE SPOTLYTE”. IN THE SPOT LYTE was launched in Concord CA. to provide a platform for local Bay Area artists to introduce their music and help widen their fan base and audience. In 2010 with his love of music and passion for helping children, Mickel founded the “Music Medicine Benefit Concert” for Children’s Hospital Oakland. The concert has raised thousands of dollars for the hospital since its creation and is currently a widely attended and anticipated event annual event. The Music Medicine Benefit Concert features both national and local artists that come together for the common cause of helping children that need critical medical care they wouldn’t otherwise get. In 2014 Mickel and Juan Blair released their debut Album “London and Blair Unsung” that featured 12 original songs written and produced by the duet and 10 other Bay Area artists. The project featured the hit song “Let Go” performed by Tamar Gillette along with so many other great songs. Mickel has song credits with:
